This year, no matter where you live, Mother’s Day will be different. Our stay at home order in PA, for our county and Philadelphia, has been extended to June 4th. I am in shock you guys. Well, like a silent shock. A part of me still can’t believe this is happening and I am trying desperately not to slip into a funk again. We basically have one more month. I mean, I know there’s a very long road ahead of us in terms of getting back to where we were before; even close to where we were before.
I understand, of course, why the stay at home order is in place. It’s just hard.
Our World Right Now
Everyone right now is going through the same thing. We are all frustrated but we are listening and doing what we are told. We are staying at home. We are only going out for essentials (grocery shopping and exercise). We are wearing masks in the common public areas of our apartment complex; basically to check the mail and pick up packages. Everything else here is closed.
I was getting the mail with the kids the other day. We had just come back from a bike ride and I wanted to hurry and check the mail while we were outside. I go into the mail room, now residents can only enter one at a time. There’s a big sign posted on the door. As I am in there checking our mail, with my kids (and we are all wearing masks), a young guy comes in; probably in his late 20s. and I politely remind him that we are supposed to be practicing social distancing and it’s only one group at a time in the mail room. He proceeds to tell me to F off and he’s not even wearing a mask. I’m upset so I tell the guy off and he walks out but not before saying more stuff. Everyone is sick of this. Everyone is frustrated but we have to do what our state and government is asking us to do.
25 Recipes for Mother’s Day
Honestly, I could care less that tomorrow is Mother’s Day; for myself I mean. I don’t need anything special. I don’t need or want flowers or gifts. I just want a clean apartment and some quiet. Madeline has been repeatedly asking me what I want them to cook for Mother’s day dinner for me tomorrow so I thought I would share a list of recipes that I would love to eat if any of you is looking for inspiration.
I do want to wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day. It’s just a little different this year.
