How To Make The Perfect Cheese Board
When I entertain in the summer, I like to keep it as simple as possible. We grill outside, keep the oven off and like to keep things fresh and delicious. If you know me, you know I love a good cheese and charcuterie board. They are so easy to put together and there’s sure to be something there for everyone.
I love adding homemade pesto and grilled veggies and fruit to my cheese and charcuterie boards in the summer because not only do these elements add color, flavor and variety, but they are also incredibly delicious! Grab a toasted baguette slice, top with some prosciutto, cheese and some pesto .. divine!
Cheese and Charcuterie Board
Here are my basic guidelines with it comes to putting together a cheese and charcuterie board: Use a variety of cheeses (hard and soft, display different shapes, colors and textures). I follow this rule for everything. You basically want different shapes, colors and textures for everything, including the charcuterie: I like to slice up hard salami and also use prosciutto and sometimes I’ll use a really thinly sliced pancetta. Mix it up! I also love adding fun elements like fruit and olives and you simply must have some tasty almonds on your board.
Here’s a video you can watch of me putting one together.
Today, I am using Blue Diamond Crafted Gourmet Garlic Herb and Olive Oil almonds! I absolutely love flavored almonds and these have so much flavor and are sure to add a distinctive crunch and burst of sophistication to any cheese and charcuterie board
If you’ve never put together a cheese and charcuterie board, you must give this a try! Here’s to summer entertaining!
Summer parties are not complete without a board like this!
Right?! I agree completely! Thank you, Matt!
Perfect for summer parties Alice. You always make the best boards. LOVE those almonds!
Your boards are always soo delicious!!
Can you give details on what meats and cheeses you used? 🙂
Hi Rhoda!
Of course! for cheese, I like to go with a variety: hard and soft: here in Wisconsin, I love Hook’s Cheddar, Roth Dill Havarti (both are cubed), and I always grab a blue cheese, you can’t go wrong with any Sartori cheese .. but just get a variety of different ones. If my friend/guests like spicy, I love getting a spicy cheese too. For charcuterie: I have salami and prosciutto!! Let me know if you have any other questions, thank you!
I love how much variety there can be when putting together a good charcuterie board! It’s such a fun and simply way to wow your guests or to have a picnic without really trying!
YUMM!! Great idea! I never have a cheese board without bread and butter pickles. Thanks for the other ideas!
