The Charmant Hotel in La Crosse, Wisconsin! Stylish, unique and so lovely! This is the only independent boutique hotel in La Crosse! If you’re ever in the area, you simply must stop in for dinner or a drink at the bar and if you’re staying the night, you have to check it out!
Recently, my family and I visited La Crosse, Wisconsin for the first time. We were looking for a central location in between Minneapolis, where my sister’s family lives, and Madison and landed on La Crosse. I wanted the weekend to be fun, but I also wanted to stay someplace nice and with good food. The Charmant Hotel checked off everything on my list and exceeded my expectations.
Upon check-in, every guest is greeted and is given local made chocolate truffles. Everyone at The Charmant Hotel was so nice and welcoming. I loved their level of hospitality and care for their guests.
If you’re traveling for something special, you can also order chocolates and champagne in advance and it’s there in your room waiting!
I knew the rooms in the Charmant Hotel would be nice. . I admired all the photos on their website and the rooms were the big deciding factor for me in making the final decision to stay there. You obviously want a clean room but I was also looking for unique, rustic, charming and stylish.
My family, my sister’s family and my parents all stayed at the Charmant Hotel that weekend, so we had two rooms and a suite. All of the rooms were so lovely. Each one had it’s own personal charm and warmth. I absolutely loved the exposed brick walls and all of the details in each room.
Once we got over oooh’ing and ahhh’ing over the rooms, we headed downstairs for dinner. The restaurant is on the lobby level, next to the bar. I have to say that I actually don’t expect much when it comes to the food at restaurants in hotels. Most of the time, I feel like I can have a better dining experience and get better food if I go out to a restaurant. But The Restaurant at The Charmant Hotel was unbelievable!
The Restaurant serves rustic French–inspired cuisine in a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Utilizing the best of the season’s offerings, the dishes emerging from the open kitchen are fresh, simple, and down-to-earth. The Restaurant is open seven days a week for breakfast, brunch (Saturday and Sunday), lunch, and dinner (closed Sunday night, with food available in the Lobby Bar & Lounge). A large outdoor patio, open as the weather permits, provides a spectacular view of the Mississippi River. The Private Dining Room inside The Restaurant seats 12 for tasteful gatherings.
The next day, before we headed out to explore La Crosse, we stopped into the The Parlour for some coffee.
The Parlour is on the lobby level and functions as a coffee bar during the day and a spirits and wine bar by night. At any time during operating hours, guests can enjoy a pastry and artisanal coffee, espresso drink, tea, or The Charmant Hotel’s signature hot chocolate. In the evening, The Parlour’s comfortable seating and cozy fireplace make it a relaxed spot for sipping wine, champagne, spirits, or cordials paired with chocolates or a light snack.
We spent the afternoon exploring Grandad Bluff and just walking around. We had tickets for a river boat cruise for dinner but we had to stop up at the Rooftop Terrace for some pizza.
We were fortunate to find seating, and quickly ordered some pizzas. I’m glad we got there when we did because soon the terrace was alive and bustling with people.
The Rooftop Terrace provides sweeping views of the city of La Crosse. The bar serves beer, wine, and handcrafted cocktails, to accompany the Rooftop Terrace’s specialty: wood-fired pizza, which was amazing. Bar snacks, such as marinated olives, and Marcona almonds, are also available for noshing.
Our entire weekend at the Charmant Hotel was top notch! I would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat! In fact, I’m already making plans to visit again next year! If you are ever in the area, or traveling through Wisconsin and need a place to stay, you definitely need to check out the Charmant Hotel! I would also highly recommend this hotel for a romantic weekend getaway or when celebrating something. You will definitely be staying in rustic, charming luxury.
