Acai Superfood Smoothie Bowl! Packed with tons of antioxidants, superfoods like raw organic cacao nibs, goji berries, hemp seeds and low fat kefir, this smoothie bowl is a great and delicious way to start your day!

Everyone has a bad day.

Last week was stressful for me. It sounds silly but I’m not adapting well to having a cat in the house and I’m finding it very challenging to do my work, cook and test things in the kitchen and photograph food. This cat loves people and food and constantly wants to be in the kitchen, which I am not having. At all.

Last Friday, we were in a rush. The morning was rushed and crazed. The kids missed the bus and I was trying to get them out of the house on time so I could drop them off. I tell the kids to grab their hats and gloves and to put on their snow pants because it’s crazy cold here. Breakfast was pop tarts and we were having a hard time getting out because of the cat. In all the craziness, I forgot Madeline’s pop tart, which she was going to eat in the car on the way to school (yes, #momoftheyear) so I stop somewhere on the way to school to buy Madeline breakfast.

I return to the car, panicked and annoyed because of how the morning is going, and Madeline complains about the breakfast I am giving her. We get to school and Madeline had forgotten her hat and grabbed earmuffs instead and didn’t want to wear them. I just about lose it in the car, with the door open, while they are getting out in the school drive through, just as the Associate Principal comes to the door to help the girls get out.

I’m mad and embarrassed and leave feeling sick to my stomach. What a crappy morning.

When I got home, I was able to clear my head, breathe, put the cat away so I could work and got some work done. That morning was bad but I blame myself. I wasn’t prepped and ready with breakfast and I was rushing my children. I want my last words to them to be “I love you” when I say good-bye to them at school and I certainly don’t want to be yelling at them in the morning right before they go to school.

This is why I am thankful that each day is a new day. And kids forgive and forget. But I can’t rely on that all the time. I need to strive to be better. I need to make the most out of each day.

It sounds corny but breakfast really is the most important meal of the day and I want to nourish and fuel my kids (and myself) with foods that are good for them. I’ve been making smoothies and smoothie bowls for over a year now. I love them and my love for them isn’t ending anytime soon.

For whatever reason, my kids won’t drink green smoothies anymore. I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I was making them everyday for like 6-8 months and they got sick of them. Regardless, they will only drink berry colored smoothies now so it’s up to me to make sure there’s still tons of goodness and nutrition packed in there besides frozen fruit and yogurt.

Frozen acai packets are my new thing. I love them so much! And Catherine from Acai Superfood Smoothie Bowl! Packed with tons of antioxidants, superfoods like raw organic cacao nibs, goji berries, hemp seeds and lowfat kefir, this smoothie bowl is a great and delicious way to start your day!

If you haven’t tried a smoothie bowl, what are you waiting for? This is honestly the BEST way to get nutrition, antioxidants and probiotics in the morning. I hope you give these a try! And this can absolutely be poured into a glass with a straw; it works as a smoothie or a smoothie bowl.

And if smoothies aren’t your thing, here are a few other delicious and nutritious recipes ideas for breakfast:

  • Avocado Banana Chia Bread
  • Lemon Blueberry Muffins
  • Baked Egg Tater Tot Muffins
  • Coconut Almond Flaxseed Muffins

Enjoy!

I know the feeling, Alice! While I don’t have kids, my husband and I did get a dog back in August, so it was a struggle for me to adjust. In fact, my schedule is based around her now since she has a lot of energy, which includes going to the dog park every day…fun, but I didn’t think it would be like that! 🙂 But she’s worth it, as I’m sure your cat is, too! This smoothie bowl is just what I need to start out my Monday. Looks so pretty and delicious!

Awwww Alice. I am so sorry that day was bad. But you are right, every day is a new day! Breakfast is my trouble too and I am just not organized enough to ever have it done ahead of time. Thank God Elliott gets breakfast at daycare for now. This berry bowl looks great and would be easy to sip as I drive to work.
