Holiday Popcorn Snack Mix and More! The perfect mix of sweet and savory! I love baking and making holiday themed sweet treats to give away. This Holiday Popcorn Snack Mix is a family fave! I use the Hefty Press to Close Extra Large Sandwich Bags, which allow me to give away a lot of snack bags and even more goodies since the bags are XL!
There’s nothing I love more than having snacks to munch on over the holidays. I love popcorn and this Popcorn Snack mix is the best! You can throw in whatever you like. . we like to add pretzels, m&m’s, peanuts and drizzle on some white chocolate. If you want even more sweetness, instead of drizzling the white chocolate, you can pour in melted white chocolate and mix everything up so everything is covered in the chocolate. Totally up to you!
I love that these Hefty Press to Close Extra Large Sandwich Bags have an expandable bottom for easy fill, with a double zipper that provides an extra secure seal that snaps closed. Best of all, the Extra-Large size can hold so much more than your average Sandwich Bag!
I hope you enjoy and spread some cheer this holiday season! Make some treats, grab your bags, fill them and give them away!
I also love making Muddy Buddies and these Peppermint Chocolate Chip cookies. They are seriously so good and so addicting. If you like chocolate chip cookies and peppermint, you simply must try these! The cookie itself is more of a sugar cookie with chocolate chips, tender but with crispy edges. It’s the best cookie!
Holiday Popcorn Snack Mix
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon any neutral oil avocado, sunflower, coconut oil
- 1 cup popcorn kernels
- 1/2 bag pretzels or more if desired
- 1 to 2 bags Holiday m&m's depending on how much you want
- 1 cup peanuts or more if desired
- 1 to 2 cups white chocolate chips*
- Maldon sea salt flakes optional
Instructions
For the popcorn:
- Using a large pot with a lid, pour in enough oil to just barely cover the bottom of the pot, about 1/2 cup, maybe a little more depending on the size of your pot. Pour in the popcorn kernels. Cover with lid. Turn the heat on high and wait for the popcorn to begin popping. Feel free to pick up the pot (with oven mitts) and shake the pot to evenly distribute the popcorn kernels if desired.
- Once the popping starts going, keep the heat on high and stay next to the pot. Once the popping begins to slow down a bit, turn the heat lower. When you don't hear any popping or very little popping, turn the heat off and remove the pot from the heat.
- Remove the popcorn from the pot and into a large bowl/s, or in two baking sheets lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. I like using a baking sheet because it's easier to drizzle the white chocolate evenly over everything.
For the Snack Mix:
- Add in the pretzels, m&m's and peanuts and toss together gently.
- To melt the white chocolate*, add white chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil and microwave in 30 second increments until melted and smooth; for about 2 to 3 minutes total.
- Pour or drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn mixture. You can either just leave out until the chocolate hardens or you can chill in your refrigerator. Since you are using baking sheets, I just left out on my kitchen counter and that was fine. If you want to add salt, you can at this point. You can use Maldon sea salt flakes or kosher salt. I personally don't think any additional salt is needed because of the peanuts and pretzels but again, if you want a more salty/sweet mix, add a little salt.
- Once the chocolate has hardened or set, enjoy! Or, fill into baggies for sweet treat bags or a large airtight bag for storage. Stays good for about 4 to 5 days when sealed properly in an airtight and sealed bag.
