Air Fryer Grilled Cheese! A super easy and delicious, pretty much fool-proof way to make a crispy, golden brown grilled cheese sandwich. The air fryer does all the work for you.

One more post before we literally pack up my entire kitchen and get ready to move! It’s still snowing here in PA and we close on our house today! My heart goes out to everyone in Texas who is still without power or is experiencing food and/or water and heat shortages and outages.

As I said in my last post, I am determined to use up as much as possible in my fridge so we don’t have to pack as much and so I made air fryer grilled cheese sandwiches.

My Tips For Grilled Cheese

The Bread: You can use pretty much any type of bread but I like using bakery style artisan bread, like the miele sourdough bread I purchased from Wegmans. Multi-grain bread, sourdough, country white or regular white sandwich bread. Anything works!

The Butter and Cheese: I like using salted butter for grilled cheese but it’s really up to you. The key, in my mind, is buttering both sides of each slice of bread and using shredded cheese, as opposed to cheese slices. Freshly grated cheese is best if you can do it. Both slices and shredded work but I believe that shredded cheese melts better and more evenly, therefore giving you a better grilled cheese. Now, you can use any cheese for a grilled cheese but again, this is just my opinion.

Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

The recipe below is a foundational air fryer grilled cheese sandwich recipe. You can, of course, add on and make this sandwich your own. I love adding Dijon mustard on my grilled cheese to add flavor, I love adding vegetables as well. I’m not 100% sure I would add vegetables in the air fryer; I have yet to test this, but it’s certainly worth a try. So, if you want to try something different, I would recommend adding Dijon mustard, and maybe even using mayonnaise instead of butter and adding some sliced tomatoes. I’m not sure I would add any greens in this air fryer version.

Instant Pot Tomato Soup

Roasted Red Bell Pepper Soup

French Onion Soup

Pasta e Fagioli

Beef and Barley Stew with Biscuit Croutons

Minestrone Soup
