Asian meatballs flavored with a delicious hoisin sauce mixture and topped with finely diced green onions. You won’t be able to eat just one! These are perfect for entertaining!
I can’t believe 2016 is coming to an end. We just got home from Dallas and have a few days left of winter break. The kids and I are getting used to being in cold weather again. It was 70 degrees in Dallas. Crazy! I desperately need to get back into my routine (sleep, exercise and diet) and have one more pantry to organize!
As much as I like looking back and reflecting on the past year, I also love looking forward and thinking about the new year ahead!
Someone once told me, it’s important how you spend New Year’s Day. . it sets the tone of the new year. . one year I was sick as a dog but I was determined to not stay in bed that day. So, I got up, and we went to see a movie with some friends and then went out for a quick meal. 2016 was definitely filled with good times, memories made with family and friends, good meals, special moments and happy memories.
In 2017, I have plans for personal growth, enrichment and lots of reflection. I’m still in holiday mode, so I’m keeping this one short today.
Whenever we get back from being out of town, we come home to an empty refrigerator. I have errands to run, groceries to buy and a new years eve dinner menu to plan.
This year, we’re staying in and will be munching on lots of goodies. My family loves these meatballs so these are on the menu for sure!
I hope everyone has a safe and fun New Year’s Eve! If you need more recipe inspiration, be sure to check out the links below:
I’ll be back on Saturday with my regular meal plan post and I’ll be back early next week (next year!) with some quick and easy breakfast ideas!
Happy Wednesday!
Asian Meatballs
Ingredients
For the meatballs:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- ½ cup panko
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 large egg
- 2 to 3 cloves garlic minced
- 3 green onions finely diced + more for garnish
For the hoisin sauce:
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 4 tablespoons brown rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 3 to 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
Instructions
For the meatballs:
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, foil or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with all the rest of the ingredients for the meatballs. Using your hands (I like to wear disposable plastic kitchen gloves) or a mixing spoon, mix together until well combined. Roll the mixture into 1¼ to 1½ inch meatballs, forming about 15-18 meatballs. You can also use a cookie scoop if you prefer.
- Place the meatballs onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 22 to 24 minutes, or until all sides are browned and the meatballs are cooked through. Remove from the oven.
For the hoisin sauce:
- Whisk together all of the ingredients in a bowl. Pour the hoisin sauce directly over all of the meatballs and bake in the oven again for another 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the oven, garnish with finely diced green onions and serve immediately.

Hi Bec, yes, they freeze well! Don’t put the sauce on them before you freeze.. just make the meatballs and the suace when you actually bake them. Happy New Year!
