It’s November 12.  Just about two weeks away from Thanksgiving!

I can hardly believe the holidays are right around the corner. I don’t know about you, but I love this time of the year. It snowed here in Madison yesterday and we cannot wait for Thanksgiving. My sister’s family and my parents will be coming to my house this year. In my family, we all get involved in the cooking; some more than others, but everyone helps and does something to make our dinner table special.

I recently had the honor of working with DMA Solutions and Sunset Grown, to work as a contributor to their new Fresh & Festive e-zine. This free digital publication is full of holiday tips and fabulous recipes from fresh food growers and hand-picked bloggers and, of course, my Tomato and Scalloped Potato Gratin recipe.

I am so honored to be a part of this premiere issue and even more excited to be working with Sunset Grown. Every type of tomato you can think of, peppers, cucumbers, specialty (including baby eggplant and strawberries) and organic produce.  I was sent a variety of tomatoes and believe me, these are the best tomatoes I have ever tasted. Sunset Grown is truly inspired by flavor.

To see the full recipe for my Tomato and Scalloped Potato Gratin, featuring these amazing Kumato Tomatoes, and for great tips for the holiday season, you can download the Fresh & Festive ezine HERE.

Here’s a quick run down of how this went.  You’ll never want plain scalloped potatoes again.

Skin on. Definitely.

Alice wow! Big congrats on your wonderful feature and beautiful recipe. it looks like a real winter warmer and truly very tasty use of creamy potatoes and those light & tangy tomatoes 🙂
It’s been truly wonderful seeing the world through your eyes and especially that gorgeous big window looking out to the snow in Madison.

What an awesome twist on scalloped potatoes Alice! They are a great classic dish and tomatoes are such a great way of adding flavor. When we add fresh tomatoes and oregano to top a pizza or grilled cheese sandwich, we call it ‘napolitana’ here. You’ll have a wonderful first Thanksgiving in Madison!

This is definitely a “WOW” dish. Scalloped potatoes are a favorite of mine, but this recipe takes it to another level! I love how it’s just a little out of the ordinary, but with a definite nod to tradition. And congrats on the opportunity to contribute to the new e-zine!
