Mac and Cheese Waffles! A fabulous way to use up leftover macaroni and cheese! You might even find yourself making mac and cheese just so you can make this! Crispy, crunchy and so good!

Recently, we made my stovetop macaroni and cheese. This is my go-to mac and cheese because it’s so good! So many of you gave me some great additions to the roux: add nutmeg, add puréed squash. .  totally makes sense that the sweetness would help balance all the richness from the cheese.

I was feeling lazy but you really must grate your own cheese if you want an excellent mac and cheese. Well, the stovetop mac and cheese was delicious but we had a lot of leftovers!

What To Do With Leftover Mac and Cheese

Normally, when we have leftovers, I make mac and cheese muffins. I also have this fabulous recipe which incorporates Ritz crackers and garlic & herbs spreadable cheese. Both recipes are fabulous and I love that the mac and cheese muffins are portable.

Mac and Cheese Waffles

Someone on TikTok told me to make waffles and I thought Brilliant!! I tested one adding cheese and one without. I also added more seasoning to the leftover mac and cheese. Let me tell you, these waffles were SO DELICIOUS. From now on, I am always going to make a huge batch of mac and cheese just so I can make waffles. Let me know when you try this!

Cuisine: American
Keyword: baked mac and cheese, creamy mac and cheese, mac and cheese muffins, mac and cheese waffles

Equipment

  • waffle maker

Ingredients

  • leftover macaroni and cheese
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • panko
  • salt and pepper
  • smoked paprika
  • shredded cheddar cheese optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your waffle maker machine. Using a large microwave safe bowl, heat your leftover macaroni and cheese for just a couple minutes just so you can easily mix it. Add all of the seasonings above and mix together.
  • Once your waffle maker is preheated and ready to go, (spray with a non-stick baking spray if that's what your normally do), scoop some of the macaroni and cheese mixture and sprinkle/add a little cheese on top. Close the waffle maker and cook. Mine waffle maker automatically cooks the waffles for 2 1/2 minutes.
Depending on the make and model of your waffle maker, just open the lid and check after 2 1/2 minutes. Open, remove the mac and cheese waffle and repeat until all of your mac and cheese mixture is gone. Enjoy the waffles while hot!

I love these Mac and Cheese Waffles. This is such a genius idea. I know this would be a hit with kids or adults. This is an easy and inexpensive meal to prepare. I would probably serve this with chicken strips. I can’t wait to make these. Thanks for sharing this gem. Shalom
