Life Update: Check In and Update

Life Update: Check In. Updates on life. What I’ve been doing, what workouts I’ve been doing and how I am working pasta and bread back into my diet.

Hello friends! After sharing this photo on Instagram, many of you reached out and asked for more details on everything. I am honestly not trying to throw the program into anyone’s face. and honestly I feel weird sharing this link all the time but I’ve been getting so many messages and emails asking about this so I figured sharing on my stories was the best way to do it.

After finishing the 6 week program, I did sign up for their VIP program which still gives me access to their app: the workouts, the meal plans (which I loosely follow), and seeing my daily macro goals. This is mainly why I chose to continue doing the VIP program and I pay $79/month for this. This is not sponsored.  For me, the workouts and seeing my daily macro goals is why I am doing VIP. I will eventually stop but may stay with this for a year.

Life Update: Check In and Progress

If you have specific questions, please email me, alice@hipfoodiemom.com. I’m happy to answer any and all questions. But overall, people keep asking what I did: whole food nutrition, Macronutrient Tracking, Intermittent Fasting, Carb Cycling and working out. It’s funny. . Intermittent Fasting was so hard for me in the beginning and giving up my coffee cream seemed like a very horrible punishment and something I never thought I could do. Now, I use a splash of Nutpods into my black coffee and I can still drink this in the morning and it doesn’t interfere with my fasting. and actually, I used to live off of coffee but now I don’t even finish one cup. I just need a few sips in the morning and I’m good to go.

I still intermittent fast for 16 hours: from 7pm to 11am. I can now do this very easily. It’s like my body knows to stop eating at 6:30 or 7pm. I also still very much enjoy whole food nutrition.

The key for me is meal prep! If I have cooked chicken or salmon, or overnight oats or hard boiled eggs prepped and ready to go, this helps me to eat better. I haven’t wanted to reach for a bag of chips in a very long time. I feel like once you start eating better, whole foods, your body changes and so does what you crave, or at least that’s what happened to me. Don’t get me wrong, I still crave sweets and ice cream (Saturday is my treat day) and when I want something sweet on another day, I eat these. I keep a whole bag of these in the freezer. Again, it’s the meal prep.

I am now working back in pasta and bread; just a little and I watch my portions. I will still continue to eat mostly whole foods (proteins, good fats, fruits and veggies, potatoes and rice), intermittent fasting and working out. These are just things that are my life now.

In other news, I think Madeline has started reading one book. Ha! They haven’t opened many books but they are having fun. Phoebe is back at her summer job (ice cream shop) and Madeline is taking a volleyball camp and has been making more bracelets and now is getting into nail art. She is very creative and good with her hands. I know this summer will be over before we know it so I’m just going to enjoy myself as much as I can.

Workouts and More

After the 6-week program, and even during the 6 weeks, I actually was working out more than the app workouts. I still go to Stride and take classes there and I also started working in more strength training and finding more specific workouts (for your arms, butt or mid section) on social media and would do those quick workouts after my regular workout.  I follow Grace White fitness and if you search specific workout terms, there are so any workouts that pop up.

I will continue to workout 6 days a week and will work in more strength training and may take it down to one workout a day. Basically, I’m just going to listen to my body and will rest when I need to.  I don’t really sleep in anymore, never have really. So I’m usually up by 6am or 7am at the latest, take care of things around the house, Coco and Cinnamon etc and then I workout. I love working out in the mornings just to kick start my day. I also think that if you workout in the mornings, you will continue to burn calories throughout the day.

Find What Works For You

This program may not work for you like it did for me. Bottom line, no matter what you do, loosing fat and weight is not easy and if you don’t currently workout, finding the motivation might be hard. My advice: take classes somewhere. I think driving somewhere and working out with other people can be very encouraging and sometimes, that’s what people need to do. Don’t weigh yourself every day. Don’t get hung up on your numbers. Just move your body, watch what you eat and stick to some reasonable portions. Good luck and I hope this helped to explain some more things. Again, if you have any questions, just let me know.

Wishing everyone a great summer! I feel like we are in thunderstorm season and so I’m hoping for some sunshine soon! I just finished The Bear on Hulu. It took me so long to get into it. I couldn’t get past the first 2 episodes but I finally watched Seasons 1 and 2 and can’t wait for Season 3. Highly recommend. Also, if you have girls, you probably know what Friday is. .  the Season 2 premiere of The Summer I Turned Pretty. I’ll have a house full of little girls so it’ll be loads of fun!!
