Baked Salmon with Dijon and Hot Honey! so easy to make and delicious! Feel free to use any brand of hot honey you like!

Friends, lately I’m all about protein. I can’t get enough of it. I’m trying to get leaner and build muscle. When I lived in Wisconsin, I had a personal trainer named Tony and then James. Anyway, these guys would be eating plain ground turkey with no seasoning. James would sometimes add a little salt but that’s it. I never understood why until now. Tony would sometimes eat a whole chicken breast (not seasoned; basically just for the protein) right before bed. Again, never really understood why until now.

Now, I understand more how important protein is when trying to build muscle. Lots of people will say eating “simple foods” with minimal ingredients is best. I personally need seasoning and flavor but I do understand why lots of people who are trying to build muscle and reduce fat do this.

“If you were to ask most people what it takes to build muscle, they’d probably say that you just need to eat protein, protein, and more protein. Protein is important, after all, your muscles are made of protein, and your body requires adequate protein in the diet in order to have the building blocks it needs to build up muscle mass. But protein alone won’t do. You need to pay attention to the rest of your diet and exercise routine as well.” Carbs, healthy fats, fruits and vegetables, you have to eat it all!

Baked Salmon with Dijon and Hot Honey

Chicken, well I should say marinated chicken breast, ground turkey, eggs, tuna and salmon are my go-to sources of protein currently. I always would season my salmon the exact same way all the time but today I needed all the flavors. Try this the next time you are baking salmon and let me know what you think!

Baked Salmon with Dijon and Hot Honey

Prep Time2 minutes mins
Cook Time8 minutes mins
Total Time10 minutes mins
Course: Main or Side Dish
Cuisine: American
Keyword: baked salmon, baked salmon and dijon, salmon
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon filets
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • olive oil extra virgin
  • salt and pepper
  • chile lime seasoning blend
  • chili crunch hot honey*
  • lemon wedge

Instructions

  • OVEN INSTRUCTIONS: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lay down your salmon and top with a 1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard over each salmon filet. Add a light drizzle of olive oil over both, season with salt and pepper, and the chile lime seasoning blend.
  • Bake in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and drizzle with chili crunch hot honey and squeeze just a little fresh lemon juice over the top! Enjoy while hot!
  • AIR FRY INSTRUCTIONS: Preheat your air fryer to 390 degrees and air fry for about 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness of your salmon, or until it has reached your desired doneness. 6 to 8 minutes is perfect for me but some people like it air fried for 8 to 10 minutes, up to you! Also, 390 works for me and my air fryer but you can air fry at 400 as well. I like my salmon just cooked and not over cooked.

Notes

*you can purchase the chili crunch hot honey here, or here.
Highly recommend this salmon with my cucumber kimchi! Recipe here.

Air fryers I own and use: This one and this one! They are both great, just depends on what you are looking for, how much countertop space you have and what your budget is. But I would recommend both!
