Everything You Need To Make a Cheese Board. People ask me all the time about boards, knives, little forks and accessories so here’s a detailed post on everything that I use and love.

All lifestyle photos are from Marla Bergh Photography in Madison, Wisconsin

It’s the holiday season, so, if you haven’t already, you might want to put out a cheese board. They are the easiest appetizer plates to put together, in my opinion, because there is no cooking involved, there’s something for everyone and you can get creative!

It’s 2020 and we are still social distancing, staying in as much as possible etc so a huge board probably isn’t happening at your house. No worries, you can apply the same tips and recommendations for any size board, or even individual cheese plates. Very detailed post coming soon!

Everything You Need To Make a Cheese Board

So, let’s get to it! Here are some of my favorite tools, knives, cutting boards, boards, plates, little knives and forks and anything else you might need! After you’ve read this, click here for all my tips and cheese board guidelines.

Everything You Need To Make a Cheese Board

Knives: I love using chef’s knives and pairing knives to slice cheese. These are my favorites: ZWILLING, Miyabi, Fiskars and this set from Food 52, their Five Two line. I have and use all of these knives all the time. With knives, I say invest in a good set. If you invest in a good set of knives initially and take care of them and sharpen them, they can last a lifetime.

Cutting Boards: I love these Epicurean cutting boards from Sur La Table. They are easy to wash and store and I love these for my everyday use cutting boards. There are also nonslip boards and all of these (at all price points) at Crate and Barrel.

Round (or Rectangular) Wood Boards: I’m a huge supporter of small businesses, and love recommending these high quality, beautiful boards from Rescued Woodworks. Even better? You can discuss with Jay what you want and have one made for you!

Round Marble Cheese Board: I love this one

Plates: I love these little white plates and these from Crate and Barrel. I have both sets. You can probably find some similar from Target. I like these from Target.

Little Cheese Knives: the ones shown below are from Sur La Table. I also have this set from Crate and Barrel. They have so many cute ones to choose from, click here to see. Also, I have a random collection from stores in Madison and here in the Philadelphia area. I picked up some really cute cheese knives from Home Grown in PA. There’s not much on their website but if you are in the area, you should check them out!

Little Cheese Fork + Knife Sets: I love these from Williams Sonoma.  These are also beautiful.

Little Dishes for nuts and olives: I have these from Crate and Barrel and have also found similar ones from Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can also use mini ramekins.

Happy Holidays!

Wishing everyone a safe, happy holiday season. We’re in this together!
