I’m in the October Issue of Main Line Today! Be sure to pick up a copy!! You can find the magazine at Wegman’s and you can also read the magazine online.
I’m absolutely thrilled and honored to be in the October 2020 issue of Main Line Today, the Power Women issue.
Main Line Today is a regional magazine “focusing on Philadelphia’s fabled Main Line and western suburbs. Main Line Today devotes itself to the communities, traditions and lifestyles of the area, providing insight into its people, history, culture and more. We make it our mission to both inform and entertain with superb photography, distinctive writing and thorough reporting.”
I had the loveliest conversation with Melissa Jacobs and I’m so happy with how she wrote the feature. We spoke for about an hour and I love how she so eloquently told my story. Where I came from, why we moved to the area, what I do, my advice for people with young kids and picky eaters and how things have changed here (on my blog) since Covid.
I feel very lucky, thankful and fortunate to be doing something right now that makes me happy, feeds my family and allows me to be in the kitchen and be creative. This blog, cooking and writing was literally what saved me back in March and April.
The photo above was from Sunday March 8, 2020, a cooking demo event I did at the Williams Sonoma at The Shops at Columbus Circle in New York for an event for Tourism Ireland. Right before this, I was in Madison, Wisconsin for a cheese event. Anyway, literally about a week after returning from NY, Covid hit and we, as did the entire country, went into quarantine and we were all stuck at home for the unforeseeable future.
We couldn’t go anywhere, except to the grocery store, and couldn’t do anything. So, I cooked and cooked and wrote and posted and cooked. And you guys cooked too.
Finding Joy in Food Blogging
Food blogging isn’t easy and, for a while, I felt like the market was becoming very saturated. I felt like I was receiving email after email from people asking me how to start a food blog and how to get started. It’s easy to fall into funks when you compare yourself to other food bloggers. There are many who are extremely successful with books, TV shows, food products etc. But I learned early on that you just have to do you, focus on your website, find passion in what you do and do it. Be happy and supportive of others and work hard, and just do your thing. I also stopped chasing things. I am truly thankful for each day I get to do what I do and am just enjoying the present.
Women on The Move
Main Line Today is hosting a virtual event on October 13th called Women on The Move. They will be celebrating outstanding female leaders of the Main Line and Western Suburbs, the ones featured in the October issue. I just bought my ticket! I’m not sure what to expect but this year’s keynote speaker is Michelle Kelly the CEO of Lilly Pulitzer. I look forward to hearing her story and hearing her give some words of wisdom and inspiration.
