Crunchy Chickpeas_Saffron Road

It’s the start of the new year and I’ve been snacking healthy. .  and discovering so many new products! These crunchy chickpeas are definitely up there with my KIND bars and Beanfield’s Bean and Rice Chips.  They are from Saffron Road, a company and brand who are pioneers in the natural and organic food movement and have exercised great care to ensure that their products are deliciously natural. All of their meat is sourced from small farm operations that treat the animal humanely and never use antibiotics and growth hormones.

I first saw Saffron Road products at Whole Foods . . in the frozen food section and on the shelves, in more than one section of the grocery store. I’ve tried their Chicken Tikka Masala and can’t wait to try their Chicken Pad Thai, Thai Basil Chili Tofu and the chicken nuggets for my kids.

If you haven’t heard of Saffron Road, you’re in for a treat. They have dessert mini tarts, savory hors d’oeuvres, chapatti wraps, gourmet frozen entrees, chicken nuggets, broths and simmer sauces.

Wasabi Crunchy Chickpeas

Of all the products, I had to try the crunchy chickpeas first. I mean, come on! Wasabi flavored chickpeas?! Love it! And if that wasn’t enough. .  they have Bombay Spice!

Next, I had to try their broths. I am cooking with broths all the time so I really do care what kind of broth I use.

Saffron Road Broths

“Made from hand-picked ingredients in the chefs’ tradition of kettle cooking, our Artisan Roasted Chicken Broth boasts three times the protein of other natural chicken broths and can promote good digestion, strong joints and respiratory health. The delicious flavor of Roasted Chicken, coupled with subtle nuances of roasted root vegetables, bay leaf and thyme offers a truly culinary experience that can be the start of many cooking journeys.” I used this chicken broth to make this dish and loved it.

Lamb Broth

“Saffron Road’s Classic Culinary Lamb Broth celebrates the chefs’ tradition of using culinary ingredients and kettle cooking. Our world renowned pasture-raised lamb is simmered with herbs and vegetables to yield a rich and flavorful broth that can promote good digestion, strong joints and a feeling of wellbeing. Enjoy the hearty nourishment and delicious flavor of our Classic Culinary Lamb Broth – on its own, or as a foundation for your favorite sauce, soup and entrée recipes!” I seriously cannot wait to try this!

I’m excited about all of it! As a vegetarian, it can be hard to find healthy snacks with protein. I looove salty, spicy food, so I suppose it’s a tie between the Wasabi and Bombai Spice… 🙂
