House Update: Part 3

House Update: Part 3!! I can’t believe how fast framework is going up! I am so excited! November can’t get here fast enough!

I literally feels like yesterday when I was showing this. And now the framework of our house is going up and I am delighted.

Throughout this process, I am learning so much. Every time it rains here, and I mean like crazy thunderstorms, I worry. But you know what? There are bigger things going on in the world. I am just thankful that the house is going up, and we are getting one step closer to the move-in date.

July 2020

Our Previous Houses

I drove by yesterday and saw this. I almost started crying. Seeing the second story going up makes me so happy.

Some of you asked if this was the first house we are building and it is. The first house Paul and I ever owned (in Santa Clarita, CA), was a smaller town home. It was a two-story and it was brand new but we didn’t select any of the finishes or anything. It was already built. Our next house (and move) took us to Seattle, WA. We lived in Sammamish, WA (better schools, about 25 to 30 minutes from Seattle but over an hour commute (one-way) with traffic). There, in Sammamish, we also had a two-story house.

This was our kitchen in Sammamish, WA. I had two sinks (a main sink which looked out to the backyard and a prep sink, featured below). In my new kitchen, I will only have one sink: the standard sink in the island. I wanted one that looked out a window but that’s not the design we chose.

I was looking everywhere for more photos of this house but this is the only one I could find. I did come across a period of time when I used to write posts about motherhood and my kids when they were younger. These are from 8 years ago! You can read all of the posts here.

House Update

Anyway, I digress.  . back to the house. This new house will have three levels: the main level with the living room, a formal dining room (haven’t had a formal dining room in years), a study/office, kitchen, mudroom, and my parents’ bedroom and sitting room. Upstairs will have the master bedrooms and all of the other bedrooms and the basement will be finished with a bar and a bathroom and storage room. If we want another bedroom down there, we’ll have to add one later. I’m thinking this will be Cinnamon’s domain; similar to our house in Wisconsin.

Of course I foolishly added carpet in the basement, where Cinnamon will be, (we have hardwood floors on the main and second story), and if you have a cat, you’ll understand this. .  but he has lots of hair balls and throws up every now and then. So, looking back, carpet probably wasn’t the way to go. Oh well. Yesterday, Cinnamon somehow ate a leaf from the corn husk and threw up like 8 times all over Phoebe’s bedroom.

Anyway, I’m mainly documenting all of these photos of the new house for myself; so I have something to look back on. I hope you enjoy and I can’t wait to show you more and take you guys inside!
