It’s Wednesday! Hope everyone is having a great week. Today’s guest post is from Linda from Brunch with Joy. Linda is another awesome blogger friend I have gotten to know this past year. Linda has made fabulous dishes like Thai Chicken with Basil, Japa Dogs, Barbacoa Beef and Thai Beef Curry. But Linda does way more than beef and Asian dishes.  .  . these are just the ones that I fell in love with. Linda can throw down. Seriously.

And we have bonded over emails and she even sent me my first box of NatureBox goodies, along with some delicious homemade Double Dark Chocolate Merlot Cookies. Yes, Merlot cookies. Homegirl put MERLOT in cookies. I love this woman. Linda is brilliant.

Oh, hello!

I’m extremely delighted to have the opportunity to be guest posting on Alice’s blog today. But first, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Linda and I have my blog called The Urban Mrs. I’ve known Alice for as long as I started blogging in 2012. In a short period of time, I’ve fallen in love with her stories and recipes. Alice is such a wonderful and caring friend, and definitely someone who will be there for you. Her stories are always inspiring and lifting up my spirit. And her recipes, oh they’re so mouthwatering – I’ve tried some of her recipes from Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Toasted Pecans and Avocado to Crazy Delicious Ham and Cheese Sliders to Triple Chocolate Baked Doughnuts, and they’re so addicting. She’s the one who inspires me to enjoy brussel sprouts.

When she approached me to write a post on her blog while she’s away, I said yes right away. The recipe that I’m about to share is called Mongolian Beef, an exotic Asian cuisine that is quite popular among Chinese-American restaurants. This is a very simple recipe that is absolutely perfect for any weekday supper. I grew up on home cooked Chinese food; however I tend to draw the line when eating out at a Chinese restaurant because most of the time, I will end up sleepy due to their ‘secret’ ingredient. Thankfully, this recipe is so easy to follow and something that will fill your tummy in less than 30 minutes.

So yes, I’m beyond thrilled and flattered to be here and thank you Alice for inviting me over and sharing my recipe with your lovely readers.

Mongolian Beef

Course: Main
Cuisine: Chinese

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef tenderloin cut into thin strips and lightly coated in corn starch
  • 2 tbs vegetable oil
  • 2 bunches green onions cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1 small bell pepper diced
  • 2 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tbs minced garlic
  • 2 tsp sesame oil

For the sauce:

  • 1 tbs oyster sauce
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup fish sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbs Shao Xing rice wine or sake

Instructions

  • Add oil to a hot wok. Stir-fry beef until caramelized on both sides. Set aside.
  • In the meantime, combine all the sauce ingredients in a bowl.
  • Add the sesame oil to a hot wok, then add the bell pepper, ginger and garlic. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds. Add the sauce and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Return beef to the sauce and stir to coat. Add the green onions and stir again to coat. Simmer for 1 minute and serve over steamed rice.

    Oh I can see why you like this recipe Alice, itΒ΄s easy but the flavors are awesome! I love a good stir fry (and a chance to eat with chopsticks..!). A perfect lunch for me. Gorgeous guest post and pics!

    Linda, YUM YUM YUM!!! This looks delicious, and I won’t have to moan ‘n groan for several hours after eating it from the effects of that “secret ingredient” you speak of πŸ™‚ This is totally something that I could whip up on a weeknight for a tasty, filling dinner.

    Eat the best dishes of beef you can contact with us :- If you are looking to buy wagyu steak there are quite a few variants and range of items available online that are all worth a try. The most important thing about such recipes is that it can be tried thereby ordering the items through several online portals. Now with the help of wagyu beef you can always cook the best of recipes and items at the ease of your home.
