Jambon Beurre Sandwich
A jambon-beurre (French for ‘ham-butter’) is a French ham sandwich made of a fresh baguette sliced open, spread with butter (salted or unsalted) and filled with slices of ham. You can also add cornichons, Dijon mustard and Gruyère cheese if desired. But a traditional jambon-beurre is just a fresh baguette, butter and ham. I highly recommend you look for jambon de Paris!
Jambon Beurre Sandwich
Ingredients
- 1 fresh baguette* sliced in half
- French or European butter at room temp
- thinly sliced cooked ham, preferably jambon de Paris at room temp
- Dijon mustard optional
- cornichons sliced in half lengthwise, optional
- shredded Gruyère cheese optional
Instructions
- Slice your baguette in half, spread on the butter and lay in the jambon de Paris. If adding the Dijon mustard, spread the Dijon on the other side of the baguette. Add in the cornichons and Gruyère cheese, close the sandwich. Slice in half and enjoy!
