Pan Fried Tofu with Ginger Soy Dressing!! An easy and delicious way to season your pan fried tofu. This one is for those who don’t like spicy. Hope you try it!

If you know me, you know that I like my food to be seasoned and I don’t mind drowning my food in dressing. Not drowning to the point where it’s soggy but I want lots of flavor in every bite. For this Pan Fried Tofu with Ginger Soy Dressing recipe, you don’t need to add as much dressing as I did here. I doubled the recipe. I like the dressing and if I am eating this tofu with rice, I also like the dressing/ sauce for my rice. It’s a win win, ha!

It’s funny how things change and evolve or get simpler over time. For example, with blogging: I always felt inferior because the quality of my photography (whether it be the food styling or the photo itself) lacked and well, just wasn’t that great. Photography has never been my strong suit.

But over the years with the introduction of video, I am free. I am free to be myself and just cook. When video first came out, I jumped at the chance to just cook on camera. I was comfortable in front of the camera and it was new and fun.

Now, with social media, Instagram reels, TikTok etc, I obviously don’t mind showing my face/myself on camera and I love that I can just prop up my iPhone (I literally just lean it on something on my kitchen counter) and film. It’s crazy to me how devices, social media and technology has changed everything. And the photos, well, I just use my iPhone.

Are the photos dazzling? No. I am simply here to share recipes and show a snapshot of what the final dish looks like. Hope you enjoy and I hope you try this one! It’s delicious! and of course, if you want some heat, I have you covered. Click here for my Spicy Braised Tofu.

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz) container firm tofu sliced
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce low sodium
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 to 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger finely grated + more if desired
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds + more for garnish if desired
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for pan frying
  • scallions diced for garnish

Instructions

  • Dry the tofu with paper towels, pressing until no moisture remains. You can also leave it pressed in paper towels (or a kitchen or cheese cloth) with a heavy plate on top. Leave for about 5 to 10 minutes. Slice and set aside.
  • To make the dressing: whisk together the soy sauce, sugar, garlic, sesame oil, ginger and sesame seeds. Taste and adjust anything as needed and set aside.
  • Using a large pan or skillet, over medium high heat, heat the oil until shimmering or for a few minutes. Add the tofu and cook turning once, until browned and crispy, for about 7 to 8 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels. To serve: place the pan fried tofu on your serving plate and spoon the sauce over the fried tofu. Garnish with scallions and toasted sesame seeds if desired. Serve with white or brown rice and enjoy!
