The perfect picnic! Take some time these last few weeks of summer, pack a lunch and head out with your kids! We packed our favorite pasta salad, raw veggies, fruit and my kids’ favorite Wholesome Organic DelishFish candies.

I love summer time. Things are so much more relaxed and we’re not running around town going from activity to activity. Growing up, my parents worked all the time so we really only spent quality time together on the weekends. It’s at times like these, when I’m reflecting on certain things, that I recognize how incredibly fortunate I am to be able to work from home and to actually be able to spend some time with my children.
Everyone says “they grow up so fast”. You “blink and they are teenagers”. Now that my youngest is six, I can really see her personality. Madeline is my spunky one. The one who is usually not afraid to say something, especially when she’s in a comfortable and familiar environment.
The other day, the girls set up a lemonade stand and they had a lot of cars stop and buy some lemonade but they also had plenty of cars drive past them. To those cars who drove by, Madeline shouted, “Not cool, yo!” and started running after the cars.
My oldest, Phoebe, is the mature, responsible one. The other day, it was her idea that the two of them wash the dishes and fold and put away the laundry! I was in shock but was so happy to see Phoebe taking charge and wanting to help me out. We’ve been having “girls night out” where we go out for dinner and frozen yogurt, just the three of us, and whenever my husband has to travel for work, we have slumber parties.
The summer time is special.
One day, we packed some of our favorite foods and snacks and set out for a picnic. I figured we needed to do this before August rolled around and so on the next clear day, we did it! Just the girls and I.
Because my kids can’t bring anything with peanut butter to school during the school year, all they want over the summer is peanut butter sandwiches. So, needless to say, they have been eating lots of peanut butter sandwiches, their favorite pasta salad, raw veggies, fruit and their favorite Organic DelishFish candies, made by Wholesome.
My kids love how they taste and the fact that they are shaped like fish. I love that Organic DelishFish candies are made with real and recognizable ingredients, they are the first candies introduced by Wholesome, the leader in Fair Trade and organic sugars and honeys, and they are non-GMO, USDA Organic, gluten free, vegan and kosher.
We spent a few hours eating, playing, blowing dandelions and running around. It was so much fun and we can’t wait to do it again in a few weeks. Enjoy the summer, everyone!
