I had the pleasure of meeting Amanda from I Am Baker in Minneapolis at a King Arthur Flour #BakeforGood event just a few months ago. Amanda is as sweet and funny in person as she is on her blog and I have to say, she is the most delightful person you’ll ever meet.

Something, I am sure, that stems from her upbringing in Fargo, North Dakota and her faith in God.

Prior to meeting Amanda, I was scheduled to receive her new cookbook, Surprise-Inside Cakes and review it for an upcoming post for The Kitchn. And if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen sneak peeks of the surprise-inside cakes I made!

We’ve all heard of this book and you may even have a copy in hand already. For those who have not made the leap to purchase this gem of a cookbook, I say, ” What are you waiting for?”

As I mention in my review, these cakes are something special. If you’re looking for that special, homemade, show-stopper of a cake that says “I care and I love you”, this book is it and these surprise-inside cakes are it.

So, click here to read my detailed review on Surprise-Inside Cakes and see what my cakes looked like on the inside!

I hope you enjoy!

Oh I love I am Baker! That cake of hers is beautiful. Yours looks beautiful too. Was it tricky? I never made it before, but I saw the tutorial way back when. It looks complicated!

Oh my goodness, Alice. I’m soooo uberly jealous that you folks over in the US get to have all the fun. I’mma missing out on this rainy side of the pond.

I’ll just wallow in self-pity, LOL. Speaking of which, I just ordered this book and sent it to Amanda herself so she can sign it. Looking forward to my awesomeness in the post some time in the near future. 🙂
