Rare Moment between Sisters. . .

There was a period of time where Paul and I thought we’d only have one child. .  but I kept nagging him and, in time, we were blessed with our second daughter, Madeline.

We both grew up with two siblings. Siblings make life better. I can’t imagine my life without my brother, Jimmy and sister, Grace. I wanted Phoebe to experience and have that sibling love and connection.

Now that they are both a little older, these sweet moments happen. Not all the time but . .  if you watch and listen closely, they happen. In between the screaming, pulling hair (oh, yes) fighting and not wanting to share toys (this is why we now have to buy two of everything. It’s ridiculous). It happens. And it’s very sweet.

They don’t always enjoy taking photos. .  especially since I always seem to have a camera (or my iPhone) strapped to me now. But sometimes I am able to capture them. Those moments.

Watch for them. They don’t happen all the time.

And now that they have each other to play with, Paul and I can gain some sanity in little increments throughout the day. Now, I just need to teach them how to vacuum and do the laundry.

Al, I’m so glad I’ve subscribed to your blog. I’m rarely on FB now so when I get your blog posts, it feels like I’m talking to you and I get to see what the girls are up to now. Love! Isn’t this just a little like your secret dream to be a talk show host?! You’re great at this – keep it up!

They’re old enuf to put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Let them. So a dish or 2 might break, but they’ll learn the right way eventually and learn responsibility.

I love this post, Alice. I have three sisters and I can’t imagine life without them. They have truly shaped the woman that I am today and I’m sure your two beautiful girls are going to have the same experience. And start them on the dishwashing, laundry and vacuuming early – NOT because I believe it’s a woman’s job but so that it takes the stress off you 😉
