Brunch at The Home Market in Madison, Wisconsin! Featuring some of the BEST bakeries, businesses and shops in town! Dough Baby Bakery, Bloom Bake Shop, Jack and Ella Paper and Buttercup Beauty to name a few!
As I said in my last post … One of the many things I love about living in Madison is the great, warm community we have here. There are so many great, talented local businesses here, so many of which were started by creative and brilliant women.
When I knew I was going to host a brunch event at The Home Market and that we would be giving away guest gift bags, I reached out to some of my favorite local businesses and bake shops to get some more goodies! I wanted to fill the bags with some of my favorite things!
Each bag was filled with a sample brunch menu with recipe ideas from me, information on Sunborn Gardens, Daily Good Greens from Aloha, beautiful mini nesting bowls from Juliska, goodies from Bloom Bake Shop and Dough Baby Bakery, cards from Revel and more!
Kylene from Buttercup Beauty, where I get my brows and make-up done, gave out these cool iPhone photo grip things. If you’re looking for micro-blading, make-up, skin care or brow design, you need to check out Buttercup Beauty. I love Kylene and have been going to her for over a year now.
Jack and Ella Paper gave all of the brunch guests these super cute greeting cards. Jessica Bates, the founder of Jack + Ella Paper, an eco-conscious stationery brand that makes all types of greeting cards, wedding invitations and misc. paper goods like weekly planners, menu notepads and grocery lists. The products reflect Jessica’s respect for simplicity and her great care in making all of her products as gentle on the environment as possible.
I have the weekly planners, menu notepads and grocery lists and love them! I use them all the time! Check them out here.
The Best Bake Shops in Madison, WI
Bloom Bake Shop
We were fortunate enough to have Bloom Bake Shop‘s sweet potato donuts at the brunch. They are so good! Each guest also had one in their gift bag so they could enjoy another one at home! If you’re in the Madison area, Bloom Bake Shop recently opened a second location on Monroe Street, across the street from Trader Joe’s. They are the place to go for cupcakes in Madison! And they make some delicious biscuits too!
Bloom Bake Shop focuses on classic American desserts made from scratch (daily) and they use local and organic ingredients. I think their cupcakes are the prettiest!
Dough Baby Bakery
When Kristine Miller opened Dough Baby Bakery, I had never felt so much anticipation for a bakery opening like this one! Kristine “got her start in baking and pastry in the kitchens of L’Etoile Restaurant and Café Soleil in 2009. She helped develop the opening pastry menu for Graze Restaurant in 2010, and went on to take over as Pastry Chef of L’Etoile.”
She spent a few years solely focused on her family and then had the opportunity to start and open her own bakery! Dough Baby Bakery makes doughnuts, cookie sandwiches, pies, bars, brownies, and cakes. They also focus on local, organic and seasonal ingredients.
I have tried almost everything at Dough Baby Bakery and everything is exceptional. If you’re ever in the Madison area, a stop into Dough Baby Bakery is a must! And if they have it, you have to try the Strawberry Rhubarb Doughnut (shown below), it’s my favorite! And while they are known for their doughnuts, their cookie sandwiches and homemade pop tarts are freaking amazing. So good!
I mean, just look at it. Their chocolate chip cookie sandwiches all stacked on top of each other.
These are soooooo good. I’m not completely sure what the cream filling is but it’s magical. You can easily devour an entire cookie sandwich, or two!
Each guest received one of these cookie sandwiches in their gift bags and I had to show some of their doughnuts.. because they are so good!
It was such a fun event and I’m so happy that each guest got to go home with sweet treats and cards from these great, local businesses!
And what better way to close the brunch? Each guest got to make her own place card to take home. A huge thank you to Kelly from Bash Calligraphy for hosting this fun lesson. Check out Kelly’s website for more!
A huge thank you to Dough Baby Bakery, Bloom Bake Shop, Jack & Ella Paper, Buttercup Beauty, Juliska, The Home Market and Revel Madison for making our day so sweet!
