I love this age. 1 1/2 to 2. They’re starting to become a little more independent and their personality starts to come through. Madeline walks around with my purses on her shoulder while still raising her little arm so the purse doesn’t fall off. She tries to walk around (or run) in her sister’s plastic princess shoes and clickety-clacks all over the hard wood floors. She tries on my shoes and walks around in them. She likes it when I brush her hair.

She will not allow me to put a hat on her for an extended period of time. If she doesn’t want it and I try to put it on Phoebe’s head, Madeline immediately wants the hat back and they start fighting.

And now she loves wearing sunglasses. All the time. In the bath tub, outside, when she’s playing inside the house.  . . and she won’t let me or anyone else put them on her. She must put them on herself. And she never puts them on straight so they are always sitting on her little face crooked.

Hair pins or bows? No way. I barely manage to clip her hair back sometimes when she’s eating. But the only reason she allows the hair pin to stay in is because she’s preoccupied with eating.

Funny little girl. This kid cracks me up.
