Our Carnival Cruise to Cozumel

At the end of September, my family and I, and my parents, got to go on our first cruise! We cruised with Carnival to the Caribbean. My kids were so excited to go on their first cruise and they were so excited that they got to cruise with their grandparents.

We live in Wisconsin and my parents live in Texas so any time we can get together is cherished. It was September so we selected a short 4-day Western Caribbean Cruise out of New Orleans on the Carnival Triumph.

We enjoyed ourselves so much that we’ve decided we want to go on a cruise every year. We’re thinking next November, over Thanksgiving. I loved the fact that I didn’t have to cook for 4 days and truly took advantage of relaxing and enjoying time with my family.

There was unlimited food all around us. Guy’s Burger Joint, seafood, Asian food, basically anything you wanted, food-wise, was within your fingertips. This was my first cruise so I had no idea what to expect. On the Carnival Triumph, every night for dinner, we dined in the steakhouse restaurant. We basically had a nice dinner (steak, seafood, pasta, king crab legs etc.) every night we were on the cruise. We were in heaven and the food was delicious!

Since it was a 4-day cruise, we only had one stop into Cozumel. My kids were having so much fun on the ship, they didn’t want to get off. But as soon as they learned they would be swimming with dolphins, my kids couldn’t get off the ship fast enough.

Once in Cozumel, everything was very organized and fun. We chose our excursions ahead of time, which I highly recommend doing! The popular ones get filled up quickly, so sign up for your excursions when you know what you want to do. Alternatively, if you want your schedule to be more relaxed, you can simply enjoy some time at the beach! There were so many options for excursions in Cozumel: going to the beach, sea lion shows, swimming with the dolphins, walking around and touring the ancient city of Tulum and more! We’ll definitely have to go back and try something new next time!

My youngest daughter had broken her arm right before we were leaving for our cruise. Thankfully, they now make water proof cast covers! So, Madeline was able to get into the water and had so much fun with the dolphins!

My husband and Phoebe got to play with the dolphins and swim on their backs and afterwards, we had a delicious buffet lunch.

When we were finished, we headed into town and did some shopping. We all had so much fun walking through all of the shops and looking at everything. Cozumel was so lovely and the Caribbean Sea was so blue and beautiful!

If you and your family are looking for a quick get-away this Thanksgiving, I highly recommend looking into a short 4-day cruise to Cozumel. It’s not too far away and you can just relax, enjoy yourself and your family! Let the cruise team do everything for you! I don’t know about you, but not having to worry about preparing a Thanksgiving dinner sounds pretty amazing to me! Cozumel is definitely a great location to celebrate a holiday with your family. We can’t wait to go back!
