Ina's Old Fashioned Apple Crisp

Ina says to use a 9 x 14 x 2-inch oval baking dish. I used a standard size baking dish. I also cut all of the ingredients in half and made a smaller apple crisp.

  • 3/4 cup white granulated sugar

  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 sticks (1/2 lb.) cold unsalted butter cubed

Instructions

  • This isn't my recipe, it's Ina's so click here for the full recipe. My only add: I highly recommend hitting it under the broiler for a few minutes at the end to brown the top even more! It's so good!

Notes

*I used Honeycrisp apples, which I know some people don't like baking with, but I thought the apple crisp was lovely
**I only used 1 cup of flour but you can use 1 1/4 cups or 1 1/2 cups and depending on what size baking dish you use, you may have a little of the crumb topping leftover
Honestly, I thought it was still delicious without the orange zest so if you only have a lemon, don't fret. I also highly recommend hitting it under the broiler for a few minutes at the end to brown the top even more! It's so good!
