Course: Main
Cuisine: American
Keyword: burger, classic burger
Servings: 4
Author: Hip Foodie Mom

Ingredients

For the beef burger patties:

  • 1 lb. Organic 100% Grass Fed Ground Beef
  • 1 cup panko or dried bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk + more if needed
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

For the burgers:

  • 4 burger buns toasted if desired
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • ketchup or thousand island dressing*
  • yellow mustard or dijon mustard
  • lettuce
  • sliced tomatoes
  • bread and butter pickle chips or dill pickle chips
  • red onions or pickled red onions**

Instructions

For the beef burger patties:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, panko, egg, milk, salt, pepper, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and ketchup. Use your hands or a spoon to mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  • Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions. Use your hands to shape each portion into a patty, ensuring they are of uniform size and thickness for even cooking.
  • Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. Once the grill or skillet is hot, place the burger patties on the cooking surface. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until the burgers reach your desired level of doneness.
  • Remove the burgers from the heat and onto a paper towel lined plate and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and ensures a juicy, flavorful burger.

For the burgers:

  • To assemble: immediately place a slice of cheese onto the freshly cooked burger patty and set aside. Spread your fave condiments onto your toasted buns (I like to put condiments on the bottom and top bun). Add the lettuce and tomatoes on the bottom bun, top with the cooked patty covered with cheese, add pickles or pickled red onions if using and top with the top bun. Enjoy!
