  • 1 tablespoon gochujang
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • freshly cracked pepper
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil

For the gochujang glaze:

  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean hot pepper paste)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown rice vinegar

For the burger:

  • 4 whole wheat buns toasted
  • 4 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices Mozzarella cheese
  • sliced tomatoes
  • lettuce
  • sliced red onions
  • mayonnaise

Instructions

For the turkey burger patties:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, 2 tablespoons of the minced onion, Worcestershire sauce, gochujang, ketchup, and season with salt and pepper. Mix together until combined. Form and shape four turkey patties of equal size.
  • Using a large pan or skillet over medium high heat, heat up your pan for a few minutes. Add the avocado oil and after a minute or two, add the turkey patties and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until nicely browned and cooked through.
  • Remove the turkey patties from the heat and onto a plate.

For the gochujang glaze:

  • While your skillet is heating up, you can make this: Whisk together all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Taste and adjust any ingredients as needed. Set aside.

For the burger:

  • To assemble: place some cheese on top your toasted whole wheat bottom bun, add a turkey patty, some gochujang glaze, top with lettuce, tomatoes and red onion. Spread some mayonnaise on the other bun and add the top bun on top. Enjoy!
