Sushi at Home!
How to Make Sushi at Home! Whether you are interested in making sushi at home for your family, or thinking of hosting a sushi party, this post is for you! Making sushi at home is easier than you think!
I’m so excited to be here today to show you how to make sushi at home! In case you missed it, I’m doing 4-part Sushi series with KitchenAid and you can click here to see my first post.
Sushi can be made several different ways. In a roll, hand roll, wrap, with no rice at all (sashimi, as featured above) and even in a rice bowl. Today, I’m going to focus on the traditional way: sliced raw fish on top of rice and served with soy sauce, ginger and wasabi.
The video above is a video of my first Facebook LIVE video, which is why I am not looking directly into the camera (we are good now; this was our first video!). If you want to watch the actual Facebook LIVE video, click here.
Making sushi at home might have been something that wasn’t possible several years ago but now, purchasing all the tools you need couldn’t be easier. You can buy sushi molds that help shape the rice for your sushi, or you can use your hands. When starting out, I suggest using the molds first.
Make Your Life Easier
I’m all for using appliances and tools to make your life easier. Today, I used my KitchenAid Stand Mixer fitted with the flat beater attachment (or paddle attachment) to help me mix my sushi rice.
You can read my entire post and get the recipe for making sushi at home over at The Kitchenthusiast blog today!

There was no blogger talking about using KitchenAid Stand Mixer to mix sushi rice until i read your post. That sounds strange but very exciting. Is it better and quicker if i follow your way instead of using hand to mix them?
hipfoodiemom says
Hi Lita! I found it easier and less messy! You can certainly use your hands but again, I found it easier and my hands didn’t get messy! I hope you try this!
