It’s summer and we are always on the go. Whether it’s swim lessons, art class or going to the library or a play date, we are always in the car going from one place to the next. After the girls’ classes, we’ve been going to an outdoor play area so I’ve been packing a lot of snacks and lunches. Now, I love the little fruit and veggie squeezy things/tubes that you can find virtually anywhere: Target, any grocery or convenience store.
Only thing: they are expensive, especially if you buy the organic ones, and they don’t always have the flavor combination you are looking for.
Now, I never thought I would be one of those moms who blends everything for their kids and freezes stuff etc. . but now that we are spending more time in the kitchen together, growing some of our own fruits and vegetables at our community garden and trying to teach the girls about fruits and veggies, how they grow and the importance of a balanced diet, our blender now has a dedicated space on our counter top.
Enter: Little Green Pouch. Reusable food pouches for kids. BPA Free | Phthalate Free | Dishwasher Safe | Freezer Safe
When the good people over at Little Green Pouch reached out to me and asked me to try their product, I was excited! Now, I get to blend my own fruit and veggie combos for my kids and save a little money in the process. Doesn’t get any better than that. My girls’ favorite recipe is below. Very simple and I know each ingredient that is in there.
Carrot, Apple and Strawberry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup carrots peeled and roughly chopped
- 1 cup apple honeycrisp, pink lady, gala, fuji or one apple; peeled and chopped
- 1 cup strawberries; cut
- 1/2 banana; peeled and cut
- 1/3 cup orange juice
Instructions
- Blend all of the ingredients in your blender until smooth. Keep cool in refrigerator until ready to eat.
And to encourage you all to give these little pouches a try, we are giving away a STARTER KIT to one reader. Includes everything seen below. These little pouches are extremely easy to use and wash. There is a press and close zipper like opening at the top; easy to fill and close. My only tip: fill your pouch only a little more than half way full because when you press to close it, the food contents will move. Dishwasher and freezer safe. BPA free.

I have not made my baby a smoothie, but I do buy the pouch food for when we travel. Depending on what time of the day I will use the pouch is how I base which flavors to choose. Anything with yogurt for the morning. Any fruit and veggie combo for afternoon. And if it happens to be the evening, anything with a grain.
